What’s all the fuss about?

Another digital piano from Yamaha on our list. We don’t need to mention that Yamaha is one of the best and most popular piano brands in the world, and it’s not a surprise they managed to get several of their product on our list of recommendations. DGX650 is an affordable, but advanced product, but is it the best digital piano for your needs? Find out in our review down below.

Ultimate Yamaha DGX650 Review:

If we use Bert Smorenburg‘s words “…(DGX650) has everything you wish as a piano player…“, it should sum up our whole review. It offers an advanced features that will satisfy any future Johann Sebastian Bach out there for a fraction of a price. Weighted GHS action, 88 keys, great selection of different voices and attractive design (black or white) are just a few of them. But what stands above them all is the affordable which makes it one of the most interesting products in this price range.

Here’s an official video presentation directly from Yamaha and we must say, Bert Smorenburg is one of the best video presenters we have seen in a long time.

List of Top Features:

Concert Sound Quality – Sound was sampled from one of the best grand pianos from Yamaha (CFIIIS), which has received standing ovations in many concert halls and music contests. Yamaha claims their products are the only ones in this price range that deliver recordings from such an advanced and high-end instrument, and we agree on that. Just a fun fact to add – price of CFIIIS is about $120.000, so with the DGX650, you can enjoy its sound for about 0.5% of its price.

Advanced Keyboard – The DGX650 has 88 notes and weighted GHS action, which makes lighter touch in the high end and heavier touch in the low end of keyboard to mimic touch feeling of acoustic pianos. When digital pianos were first developed, most of them didn’t have this feature, so pianist had problems adjusting their hands when they switched from digital to acoustic one.

Advanced display – The DGX650 comes with an advanced Full-dot LCS display with 320 x 240px resolution. It shows scores and lyrics while you are playing your favorite songs.

Connectivity –  It offers all connectivity options that you can expect from a digital piano. USB port for sound recording and storage (in wav format), AUX input, 1x headphones line and pedal unit.

Style recommender – The DGX650 comes with all kinds of styles you can possibly imagine, from pop to jazz. But what makes it stand out, is its style recommender module. It will automatically recognize your style of playing according to your melody and rhythm, and suggest you a list of styles that would fit your masterpiece.

Accessories included – Yamaha provides numerous accessories with every digital piano, so you don’t have to visit a store and spend hundreds of dollars for everything else. DGX650 comes with owner’s manual, complete data list, music list, keyboard stand, footswitch and online member product registration, so you can access their website and download all additional information that you need.

Warranty – Yamaha stands for quality and like many of their products, DGX650 comes with standard 1-year warranty. However, it can be extended up to 2 years on all parts and labor for an additional fee, which covers both mechanical and electrical failures. Free shipping (both ways) for repairs is guaranteed.
